Heinrich Himmler
Time period in service: 1929- 1945
Leading member of the Nazi Party.
He was born in Munich on October 7, 1900. His father was the son of a police president, a former tutor to the princes of the Bavarian court, and a headmaster by profession. Himmler originally intended to be a farmer and in fact acquired a degree in agronomy. In 1929, Hitler appointed Himmler to be head of Reichsführer-SS, this caused him to be a bodyguard for Adolf Hitler. He was also responsible for the security services and the concentration camps. He made it clear that Heinrich was never anti-semitic, he only followed his orders and listened to what Hitler told him to do. He tried to disguise himself and flee, but he was caught. Army doctors were ordered to search him to make sure he didn't have any poison on him, but he hid cyanide phials in his mouth and he bit down after they checked him and died.
“The best political weapon is the weapon of terror. Cruelty commands respect. Men may hate us. But, we don't ask for their love; only for their fear.” - Heinrich Himmler
